Franklinton Arts District Dog-Ear Fence — Sullivan Avenue, Columbus
Franklinton is one of the fastest-changing neighborhoods in Columbus, and the best projects there respect what's already on the block. A property developer brought us in on a Sullivant Avenue property in the Franklinton Arts District that needed a fence — one that looked like it belonged on the street, not one that stuck out.
What we built
4-foot dog-ear privacy fence — A classic dog-ear picket style in pressure-treated pine. Tall enough to define the yard and add privacy, low enough to keep the front of the property open and neighborly, which is what the streetscape called for.
Set back to match the neighbor's fence line — Rather than building right at the sidewalk, we set the fence back to align with the existing fence next door. The result is one continuous, clean line down the street instead of a jog at the property edge.
Matched the character of the street — We worked with the developer on height, style, and placement so the new fence reads as part of the neighborhood's existing fabric. In a historic district like Franklinton, that matters both for curb appeal and for how the property is received by the neighbors.
Built to last — Pressure-treated pine posts set below frost depth in concrete, with rot-resistant framing, so the fence stays straight through Ohio winters.
