Galena, Ohio Paver Patio — Regraded, Rebuilt, and Built to Last
This Galena homeowner had a patio problem that's more common than you'd think in Central Ohio: the entire surface pitched toward the house. Every rain sent water against the foundation, the pavers had settled unevenly, and the space wasn't safe to use. The scope
Regrading and drainage — We corrected the pitch of the entire patio area so water now sheds away from the home instead of toward it. This is the step that makes everything else last.
Engineered base — Compacted aggregate base and bedding layer, built to handle Ohio freeze-thaw cycles without heaving or settling.
Herringbone paver patio — Roughly 365 square feet (about 29' × 12.5') of traditional pavers laid in a classic herringbone pattern — the strongest interlocking layout for a patio this size, and one that looks sharp from every angle.
Custom curves — Multiple curved edges softened the footprint and let the patio flow naturally into the lawn and planting beds rather than ending in hard corners.
Working with what was there — We tied the new patio cleanly into the home's existing stacked-stone staircase and landing, matched heights precisely, and integrated the space with the fire pit area and garden beds so the whole backyard reads as one design.
Finished landscape — Fresh mulched beds and ornamental grasses frame the patio and give the covered seating area privacy and a finished, intentional look.
