Linden Natural Stone Walkways — Columbus, Ohio
Getting around this Linden property used to mean cutting across lawn and mud. The homeowners wanted safe, clean, accessible paths connecting the places they actually use every day — the driveway to the front door, the patio to the hot tub, and the yard to the deck. They also had a budget to respect. We designed a plan that delivered all three connections without cutting corners on how the walkways were built.
What we built
Natural stone stepping-stone walkways — Natural stone set as a stepping-stone path in both the front and back yards, giving the property a warm, organic look that concrete or straight-line pavers can't match.
Bonded pea gravel joints — The gaps between stones were filled with pea gravel and set with a gravel binder (a clear, permeable adhesive) so the gravel stays locked in place. No scattered stones on the lawn, no gravel migrating into the grass, no ruts after a heavy rain — and water still drains straight through.
Three accessible connections — Driveway to front entry, patio to hot tub, and patio to deck. Each path was routed and graded for safe, comfortable footing, including when it's wet.
Proper base preparation — Every stone was set on a prepared, compacted base so the walkway stays level and doesn't rock or sink over time.
Built to the budget — We worked with the homeowners to prioritize what mattered most and choose materials that gave them the look and durability they wanted at a price that worked. This was a large project, and planning it right up front is what made it affordable.
Why bonded gravel walkways work
A stepping-stone path with loose gravel looks great the day it's installed and rough a year later. Binding the pea gravel keeps the joints crisp, stops weeds from taking hold, and keeps the path permeable so it never puddles. It's a smart, lower-cost alternative to a full paver walkway when you want natural character and easy maintenance.
The result
A complete transformation of how the family moves around their home — every destination connected by a clean, safe, natural stone path. The homeowners were extremely happy with the result.
